Choosing an accountant can be an overwhelming task. The team at ORGANISSE have simplified the process on how to choose an accountant with ease. Here is a checklist that can be used in choosing a good qualified accountant.
Firstly, most of the accountants possess a formal degree or diploma in Accounting. In additional to the formal qualification, the accounting professionals generally have one of the following professional qualifications: (1) Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA), (2) Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA) and (3) Institute of Public Accountants (IPA).
All of the above professional qualifications require the professionals at least 3 years experience before they can be qualified. Therefore, ensure the professionals have at least 3 years industry experience before accepting the services from them.
It is not a requirement to have licence to provide accounting and bookkeeping services by the accounting professionals. However, if a professional is providing taxation services such as tax return and GST/BAS returns services, it is a requirement that the professional needs to have a valid tax agent licence before providing services. Check if the professional has the required tax agent licence before engaging the services of tax or GST/BAS services.
After that, check what services a professional provides. Some may be good at financial accounting and financial statements preparation, business setup advice, taxation planning and structuring, SMSF setup and advice etc. Some of the accountants may be able to provide limited financial advice under restricted licence. Check the professional profile in www.organisse.com.au and see types of services professionals are offering.
Ratings and client feedbacks
Above all, it is increasingly very common that professional profiles are reviewed and rated by the clients based on their level of services and professionalism. Check professional profiles listed in ORGANISSE as we also asked our users to provide their feedback and ratings to the professionals to share their experiences to help other users make an informed decision.
